Mattel Kicks Off New ‘Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous’ Toy Line With Awesome Indominus Rex Figures

Jurassic World fans have a lot to look forward to this year.

With the upcoming release of the Camp Cretaceous animated spin-off series set to debut on Netflix, confirmation that the original Jurassic Park cast will not only return in Jurassic World: Dominion but will also have bigger roles than mere cameos, and the announcement of fresh Jurassic World LEGO sets on the horizon – fans of the franchise are being downright spoiled.

But that’s not all. Mattel, which has so far done a great job with producing quality Jurassic World toys, is releasing a new line of dinosaur toys to promote the Netflix series. All of these toys were already announced and displayed at this year’s New York Toy Fair, but they’re finally about to be made available to public consumers.

And while the new line-up features some awesome choices, like the Epic Roarin’ Tyrannosaurus Rex that has a posable head which literally shakes as it roars, pretty much all of our attention (and money) looks like it’ll be going to the Indominus Rex toy releases.

One reason the Indominus Rex is such an anticipated toy release is due to the fact that, since the hybrid dino wasn’t in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, it hasn’t received as much dedicated merchandise. Before last year most of the Indominus Rex merchandise was only available from Hasbro’s old line-up which, quite frankly, was not attractive.

Last year fans were finally treated to a proper Indominus Rex toy from Mattel with the impressive Destroy N’ Devour action figure. But this year Mattel has really outdone themselves. This year fans can expect not just one, but TWO new Indominus Rex figures.

The first one is already available at Target where it currently retails for $54.99. It’s the Super Colossal Indominus Rex which joins the lineup of other Super Colossal releases like the the Super Colossal Tyrannosaurs Rex and Velociraptor Blue.

As the name suggest, the toy is… super colossal. It’s huge. All told, it’s 18 inches tall and 3.5 feet long (45.72 x 104.14cm). Its detailed sculpt makes it look more like an actual animatronic from the movie than a toy, and you can really have it eat smaller toys. There’s a special compartment in its stomach where you can retrieve any toys you’ve fed it.

Mattel’s next Indominus Rex release is decidedly much smaller. In fact, it’s more of a miniature chibi version of the hybrid dinosaur. It’s the Feeding Frenzy Indominus Rex.

This cute figure’s anime eyes light up if you feed it slab of plastic ribs (which are included with the toy). Its mouth can flap open and shut easily by pushing its tail up and down, and it looks like it’d fit in nicely on any Jurassic World fan’s shelf or desk.

The Feeding Frenzy Indominus Rex is rumored to release on July 13th and will retail for $24.99 once it’s available.

Of course, there are lots of other Jurassic World toys to come, but for us nothing beats the Indominus Rex.
