The early thief gets the truck. In a twist of instant karma, surveillance cameras in the city of Kennewick show a Washington state man had his truck stolen at 6 in the morning while he was in the process of stealing from a store across the street.

YakTriNews reports that the 1992 Chevy pickup was left unattended when another man driving a 10-speed bike noticed the keys were left in the ignition. Not one to let an opportunity pass him by, the suspect tossed his bike in the bed of the truck, hopped in the driver’s sear, and sped off.

The truck’s owner, William Kelley, immediately alerted police of the vehicle’s theft. His fortunes soured further upon a thorough review of footage of the surrounding area when officers noticed Kelley was not only the victim of crime, but a perpetrator of one as well.

He was swiftly booked into jail on a warrant and currently faces a fresh charge of burglary. His truck and its new owner have not been located.
