The Trump-Kim Coin Could Be Worth A Fortune Very Soon

Reports of North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un rapidly failing health have been swirling around recently, with some speculation that Mr. Kim may either be in a vegetative state or perhaps even dead following a botched heart surgery.

If true, the news could greatly increase the value of historic coins that were minted by the White House Communications Agency (WHCA) to commemorate the summit of US President Donald Trump and North Korean’s Kim Jong Un back in 2018.

The coins were at first seen as more of a novelty item – a collectible curio for the history books. But that didn’t stop many collectors from snapping them up during their limited run at the low price of $19.95 per unit.

That small investment could prove to pay off yet, as some listings of the coins have already skyrocketed to prices between $500 and $990USD on eBay alone.

However, most sellers on eBay and Amazon alike are listing the coin for only $99 or even less. Still, that’s quite a mark-up from the original price – and it’s most likely only going to climb higher over time.

Buyers should be mindful though, as the official coin was minted specifically by the WHCA and will come with a certificate of authenticity (COA). There are several copycat items that look similar, but won’t hold the same value as the officially minted coin.

In fact, it’s probably best to purchase the coin directly from the White House Gift Shop where it is still available online, albeit at a higher price tag than its initial run.

Some analysts have suggested the WHCA Trump-Kim coin could be the modern equivalent of the “1804 Dollar” series of diplomacy-related coins that went on to command extremely high prices in numismatic circles.
