While Joe Exotic of Tiger King fame remains jailed in a federal prison serving out a 22-year sentence, his sworn rival Carole Baskins has just been awarded ownership of his old zoo.
A federal judge made the ruling on Monday to grant control of Joseph Maldonado-Passage’s, more famously known as Joe Exotic, zoo to Baskin’s Big Cat Rescue Corp.
U.S. District Judge Scott Palk made the decision as a result of a previous lawsuit concerning copyright and trademark infringement against Joe Ecotic’s company (known as Greater Wynnewood Development Group, LLC). Mr. Exotic had fraudulently attempted to avoid paying the settlement by transferring ownership of the zoo over to his parents, to no avail.
That means within 120 days Baskin will receive the 16-acre property in Garvin County, Oklahoma. However, it is unclear whether she will also receive the animals on the property, including over 200 of the big cats currently living there. They will mostly be relocated.
