To Infinity And Beyond: Buzz Is Back In Pixar’s New ‘Lightyear’ Trailer

Buzz Lightyear wasn’t kidding when he exclaimed “To infinity and beyond!” nearly three decades ago.

The spaceman from Toy Story is receiving his own solo film directly from Pixar itself, and a new trailer for it just dropped.

I’m not gonna lie. I like it. A lot. The choice of David Bowie’s hit song “Starman” playing in the background throughout the trailer sealed the deal, but honestly even with the sound off this movie looks like it will be throughly entertaining.

Chris Evans stars as the voice of everyone’s favorite iconic astronaut, and while you don’t get to hear him speak very much in the trailer, the lines you do hear sound suitable enough. I sincerely hope Tim Allen gets some love in the film, hopefully as an important character and not a mere cameo. Buzz’s father, perhaps? Unless that role is going to Wayne Knight as Enperor Zurg.

Apparently the upcoming film is not about the Buzz toy we all know and love, but is instead a movie that exists within the Toy Story universe about the character Buzz Lightyear which the toy is based off of.

So basically it’s a glossier version of the direct-to-video Buzz Lightyear of Star Command movie and subsequent TV series that aired back in the early 2000s. And I am here for it.

Obviously with this being a full-length animated Pixar feature film, the animation is top-notch. You can almost feel the crack in Buzz’s chiseled chin just by looking at it.

Don’t believe me? See for yourself in the trailer below.

No concrete release date is provided in the trailer, other than the we can expect Disney to release Lightyear in Summer 2022.
