Washington Football Team’s New Name Likely To Remain For The Foreseeable Future

The NFL has met with controversy after controversy over the past decade, but at least one of its most high profile controversies may finally be coming to an end.

The name of its Washington-based team had often been accused of having racist connotations. Thus, a shortlist of new names for the team was devised as the NFL decided to try rebranding it.

However, one of the least likely names on the list seems as though it may be the official permanent replacement. In fact, the team has already been using it as a placeholder for some time, and so far it hasn’t caused any problems. The name is simply: Football Team. More precisely, Washington Football Team.

It’s so bland and uninspiring, that it couldn’t offend a single soul if it tried. Oatmeal is more offensive than Washington Football Team.

The team has branded itself as the Washington Football Team since July. Although their uniforms still bear the familiar maroon and gold colors, the Native American design has been completely erased.

Team owner Dan Snyder has said it’s very possible the new name will be permanent.

“If the Washington Football Team name catches on and our fans embrace it then we would be happy to have it as our permanent name,” Snyder told The Wall Street Journal.

Still, betting site Odds Shark reported that most of its users prefer naming it The Red Clouds or The Red Tails. The Warriors was a previous favorite, while The Hogs is usually in third place.
